Yes I am still alive, though you wouldn’t think so as there hasn’t been a race result in 18 months to prove it. Well that is going to change tomorrow. I am doing my first race since Clearwater 70.3 Worlds in Nov 2009. After a spending the last year on the sidelines with a chronic knee injury I am getting back into things with the Vancouver Sun Run 10k to gauge where I am at before hitting the World Cup season again.
Needless to say it has been a very trying year mentally and physically. However, I am coming back into form and it is amazing the bodies ability to remember how to work hard and how quickly I have gotten into shape.
A lot has changed over the last year but coach Lance and I are still wanting to have a go at qualifying and competing at the London Olympics. It is going to be an uphill battle with finding fitness quick enough, funding the process and enough races to get the needed points and standards. I have never been one to shy away from a tough challenge so Lance, my support team and I are willing to have a go.
Through this tough year I have had fantastic support from my network of people in Victoria and have some new support willing to help me work towards London. I will share what these people have done for me in the next few blogs.
I look forward to having some race updates to start blogging about.
